Ecuador - Volcano Cotopaxi very close to the Equator has deep snow and ice fields, killer crevasses and intense Arctic storms. The summit is 5,897 meters -19,347 ft. The climate close to the Equator varies tremendously around the world: a) hot desert days, b) cold desert nights, c) lush European like mountain meadows, d) verdant mountain sides, e) lots of tropical jungles and f) mountain tops with many meters thick snow and ice with intense Arctic storms. How the UN IPCC dares sound panic alarms over their unproven 2 degree C average global warming from use of fossil fuels is a mystery. Only the alarmists know about the terrible things they are planning for a world without fossil fuels.

Just over two years ago, on the occasion of COP26 (the annual “Conference of Parties” of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change) held in Glasgow, I wrote about the carbon imperialism that the representatives of the US, EU and their developed country allies want to impose on the governments of the Global South representing over 80% of the world’s population.

In an interview with AFP prior to the commencement of the conference last week, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for a total “phaseout” of fossil fuels. Never one to shy from hyperbole, he warned of a "complete disaster" which awaits mankind on its current trajectory.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, the president of the COP28 climate summit and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, said pointedly “There is no science out there, or no scenario out there, that says that the phase-out of fossil fuel is what’s going to achieve 1.5C.”
