There is nothing unsettled about the fact that atmospheric carbon dioxide is the absolutely essential building block of all life on land, in the air and in the oceans. The oceans hold a lot more CO2 than does the atmosphere. Any change in atmospheric CO2 will be immediately responded by release or absorption by the oceans. CO2 does not control Earth's climate and humans don't control CO2!!
