Donn Dears, engineer, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy:The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was established in 1998, and its role, as established by the UN is as follows: “The role of the IPCC is to assess … [the] risk of human-induced climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation.” This makes it clear that the IPCC was not empowered to determine
the cause of global warming. The UN merely accepted that CO2 was the cause. Since then, billions of dollars have been spent trying to cut CO2 emissions.
