Earth is a unique water planet. The weather is mostly regulated by interaction of sunlight with land and oceans and the three phases of water. Water vapor carries the sun's energy to the upper atmosphere where it condenses to water droplets, snow or ice. That releases heat in the form of infrared radiation that escapes to space. The study of infrared radiation with "greenhouse" gases is a different mechanism. Which is the conrtolling one?
