John Shanahan, Civil Engineer, Editor of allaboutenergy.net and efn-usa.org: Individuals with science degrees (John Holdren, Tom Cochran, Michael Mann, Jim Hansen, etc.), organizations with science in their name (national academies of science), universities, organizations with misleading names (Natural Resources Defense Council), actors, main stream media, and politicians have been working since the 1970s to have the world stop using fossil fuels. This would set humanity back to lifestyles and life expectancies of the Middle Ages or at least back to the 1800s when there was much slavery and horse manure.

Most people today live in large cities which rely on energy from fossil fuels for almost everything from heating, cooling, cooking, powering all electric devices, urban transportation, vacation travel, everything industry produces and transports from manufaturing centers to consumers. The modern world is very vulnerable to the loss of all these energy sources. Enemies don't need armies, navies, air forces nor nuclear weapons to destroy and conquer peaceful, modern countries. Just destroy their very vulnerable energy sources and electronics. Enemies would be able to walk in and take over after just a few months.
